The building that is widely seen as the birthplace of Hip Hop has been sold for $7 million dollars.
Allhiphop are reporting that 1520 Sedgwick Avenue was sold to property developer Mark Karasick, who outbidded the current tenants of the building.
It was only last year that the building was eligible for landmark status.
Kool Herc, the founder of Hip Hop, lived in the buidling in the 1970’s voiced his disappointment that noone from the Hip Hop community ’stepped up to the table in some form of fashion’

Developed by 7 Studios with creative input from music legend Quincy Jones IIIScratch combines free-form DJ tricks with great rhythm game-play. Scheduled to arrive in stores next spring, Scratch is set in distinctive urban environments and features songs from the biggest names in Hip Hop.

PopJax & Asylum Records have teamed up to produce a new Hip Hop video game called ‘Dirty South’.
The games will feature online video and trivia questions about Hip Hop artists such as: B.G., Bun B, Willie the Kid, Lil Boosie, Scarface and Webbie.
PopJax’s CEO Doug Barry said

Lowkey is a UK rapper who is part of Catch 22 (set up by Kool G Rap). He’s teamed up with supergroup Mongrel for an album. He’s a few cuts from the collabo.
A new Talib Kweli DVD called ‘Live At The Shrine’ is set to be released November 3rd in the UK.
The DVD is the first to be released by the emcee and features special appearances from KRS-One, Res & Strong Arm Steady. The DVD also has interviews with Kweli and KRS, music videos. as well as previously unseen footage.
