The Jay-Z Glastonbury criticism wont go away!

Earlier this week, Oasis band member Noel Gallagher criticised the choice of a Hip Hop headliner saying “I’m not having hip hop at Glastonbury, it’s wrong”.

NOW organiser Emily Eavis has admitted  that Jay-Z’s people have been ‘rattled’

“I think his team are thinking: What’s going on here? What is this reaction? … We have lost some fairweather friends, yes. We’ve made a bit of a curveball decision … But we feel we’ve made a really important decision and we’re absolutely going to stick by it because we think it’s going to be amazing.”

Writing for The Independent newspaper, Eavis believes there’s something not right about all the criticism of Jay-Z.

“There is an interesting undercurrent in the suggestion that a black, US hip hop artist shouldn’t be playing in front of what many perceive to be a white, middle class audience …

… I’m not sure what to call it, at least not in public, but this is something that causes me some disquiet … In the end, the hot air surrounding Jay-Z’s performance will blow away … We are all confident that the best answer to the critics will come in June, when Jay-Z strides on to the stage.”

What do you guys think?

Will Jay-Z be faced with hostility?

Will he pull out or will he make history?
