Its that time of the year again, where the brain trust over at MTV decide the Hottest MC of 2008. Last year Lil Wayne took the crowd. On May 16th, the Hottest MC will be annouced.

Will Weezy retain his crown or will he be dethroned.

New additions to the list should be Lupe Fiasco, Rick Ross & Soulja Boy.

“I remember catching the ‘Hottest MCs’ show … I was impressed with that old-school cipher feel. Everybody popped off, and everybody did their thing. I think I seen a couple different ones. I appreciate MTV repping that real cipher feel — that’s that real hip-hop feel, that real New York feel, that real feeling … I’m still a fan of just good music, on the corner, people doing what they doing right now. ‘Hottest MCs’ — it’s the hottest show out.”
