T-Weaponz - Just Begun

T-Weaponz are a explosive group from Brooklyn. The group consists of brothers IzReal and Arkitek and neighbourhood firend Psalmz. They decided to form a group after freestyling in a cipher.

T-Weaponz

Their intellectual lyrics with their fantastic ability to weave in street scenarious tell us, these guy should not be slept on. Iz is raw, Psalmz is poetic and Ark has that flow. With all these qualities combined, they are a group to look out for.

They have featured in the famous ‘Source’ Magazine.  They have worked with Trae and producers Fingazz and Hazardis Sounds (N.O.R.E., Rick Ross’ Triple C fame). They are also animated characters in the Scarface video game.

On their debut album, Just Begun, look out for:

‘Mira Mira’ ft Notch - brilliant sound

‘Everybody Get Up’ ft Sensa - wonderful energy

‘Mama Said’ ft Diamonique - well crafted and piognant.

Steelo - Make Up My Mind

Steelo consists of A.Uno and Bobby K. who have a great balance of Hip Hop and R&B.

The lyricist A.Uno brings smooth delivery and is a bi-lingual emcee (English, Spainish and Farsi), while Bobby K brings soulful melodies and harmonies. Simply put, he ‘the voice’.

Steelo

Steelo have opened up for really big acts like Rich Boy, Lloyd Banks, Mobb Deep, Sean Kingston, Digital Underground.

But Steelo also  offer help outside of music. They conduct a student empowerment program, which helps students realise their own aspirations, thinking out a career path and helping them to achieve those goals.

‘Made Up My Mind’ - great sound

‘Let It Roll’ - summer feel

‘Song For You’ - musically diverse

Blue Scholars - Joe Metro

Blue Scholars have an excellent sound. They are the combination of The Roots and Common but with their own voice.

The group consists of Geologic, who came onto the scene as a spoken word poet and a battle MC. He cites Nas, Rakim, Chuck D and KRS-One as some of the artists that have influenced him.

Blue Scholars

The other half of Blue Scholars is Sabzi, he’s known as the ‘mystery man’ to the media. He has people asking all kinds of questions. He holds a BA in Economics, he’s a producer who makes melodic mood music. He cites influences from Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Madlib right throught to NOFX and Aphex Twin. Oh and he also has a fondness for Middle Eastern and Indian music.

Rue Melo - Rue Melo

Born in Paris but now based in California after spending time in New York, Rue Melo comes from an musical family. Her father was a accomplished singer and guitarist and her mother a dancer.

After singing for many years, Rue started to write, record and perform. In 2005, she hooked up with producer Bernd Burgdorf (Tom Waits, Pink).

Rue Melo

They both began to work on a number of songs for her self-titled debut album. Around the same time, she formed her band consisting of Martin Estrada (guitarist), Bryan Bush (bassist) and Idris-Mutazz Tate (drummer).

Her musical tastes range from Bob Marley, Lauryn Hill, Edith Piaf right through to Aaliyah and Biggie Smalls.

Last year Rue Melo were supporting Grammy award winning blues-rock artists Los Lonely Boys.

The Hip Hop Chronicle LOVE Rue Melo’s sound, organic music mixed in with velvety vocals. They have great diversity and their album has something for everyone.
