At the tender age of 22, AC is a writer, producer and a witty emcee. With the help and support Tapemasters Inc, he’s definately here to stay. He has already established himself on the mixtape scene featuring on over 300 mixtapes. Multi-platinum producer Kwamé has described AC “one of the brightest stars on the rise”.

In the summer of 2006, AC released a cultural music masterpiece that displayed his skills as a producer. A project called ’Twins’  (a compilation commemorating the Hip Hop lyrics of Christopher “Big Punisher” Rios and the music of salsa legend Hector Lavoe) was proclaimed a  classic by publications like XXL, Scratch, and Latin music’s magazine Bridgez.

The Hip Hop Chronicle had the opportunity to catch up with AC and his thoughts on Hip Hop, his thoughts on Leona Lewis. He also has some wise words for upcoming artists.

For those that arent aware of you, tell us about who you are?

AC- The 5th borough rep, The Latin from Staten, Number 1 Homewrecker Haha

Let’s talk about one of tracks, What was the process of making New Soul, from the idea right through to the final cut?

New Soul came from me seeing that damn Apple Macbook Air commercial Every five minutes on TV since Christmas. Everytime  it would come on I would sing the song. I figured this would make a good sample. People would recognize it right off the bat and that would probably in turn make them listen to what I have to say. The video has been shot, and trust me, its going to get real crazy when this drops, shout out to the homie Steven Tapia!

How would you describe your sound?

I would say street/commercial, but I don’t like to be thrown into a particular category, my sound is Rare Unlimited, hard to find but I got plenty of it!

What message can you give to upcoming artists?

Please don’t rhyme the words BUB and CLUB anymore!

Ryan Leslie ft AC - Rescue You

Over the last year or so, Hip-Hop has had its critics. From Oprah to Bill O’Reilly and there was even a Congressional hearings? What are your thoughts on the current state of Hip-Hop?

I love these people that are quick diminish this culture and this music. You’ve got Oprah making billions of advertising dollars on her “charity” gimmicks, and you got uptight ass Bill O Riley
probably getting whores like Eliot Spitzer, so there is really no need to pay attention to them.

When is the album coming out and what can we look forward to from AC?

I’m working on some big buzz ideas at the moment, but yeah to answer your question I have an album ready to go at any point. I want the fan base to grow a bit more before I release such valuable material.

What was the thinking behind remixing the Leona Lewis record?

I’ve always liked to be different, be a little to the left, and keep people guessing my next move. People have to understand my mind is open 24- 7, if I wasn’t making music, I would be creative in a another medium.

Leona Lewis ft AC - Bleeding Love

What do you think of Leona Lewis as an artist?

I think she’s a great vocalist but she looks a little like Ray Finkle from Ace Ventura Pet Detective.

AC - Trapped On The Island ft Trife Da God (Video)

What would you say to critics who believe this isnt hip-hop?

People don’t know what they like, sometimes you have to train their ears for them. I am going to force feed the game creatively. I put out a record just about every week, whether it’s a new record, a new R&B or Pop remix, a freestyle, I’m one of the most consistent dudes out right now. I do what I feel ‘the people’ will enjoy listening to.

AC keep doing your thang!

Would you like to add anything?

Thanks for the opportunity.

AC
