Hip Hop legend-turned actor Ice Cube is planning to star in a movie adaptation of the ’70’s sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter.

The show which ran from 1975-79 was about a former student who returns to his New York High School to teach a group of bad behaved pupils.

John Travolta is set to be in the movie (he played one of the pupils on the original show), while Cube will play the role of Kotter.

He said 

“There was no bigger fan (of that show) than me. (I’m) very excited to be able to put a new twist on it.”
