US music artist Akon has said he wants to help UK rapper Dizzee Rascal break the US charts.

Akon, who recently signed UK rapper Sway to his Kon-Live music label, is a fan of Dizzee’s work and works to collaborate musically.

“Dizzee is dope … I really like him. I think that whole grime sound, if it ever breaks outside of the UK, is going to be huge, it’s so new and fresh … I want to be the one to bring it over to the US and one way would be to get Dizzee on my album. Give him my number.”

Dizzee is currently touring Australia and New Zealand. Semtex who is the rapper’s DJ for the tour is saying Dizzee is tearing it down show after show.

2008 has been a good year for UK music. Estelle has got her ‘Shine’, Sway has hooked up with Akon, Wiley had a huge record as did Dizzee. There’s fantastic upcoming talent with the likes of Bashy, Chipmunk, Tinie Tempah, Giggs and many more.
