The Hip Hop Chronicle were in attendance at the 6th Annual Urban Music Awards at the Indigo2 Arena in London.
The Awards helps to showcase both underground and ‘overground’ talent in UK Urban Music.
Artists like Bashy, Tinchy Stryder, Ms Dynamite, Dwain Chambers, Richard Blackwood, actors from the soap Hollyoaks and many more stars of the UK entertainment scene came through to celebrate a successful year for UK Urban Music.

The Hip Hop Chronicle had the honour of speaking to some of the artists (past and present) that have been responsible for taking UK Urban Music to a new level.
The Hip Hop Chronicle Interviews Bashy
Bashy has had a great year and he is definately one to look out for. Aside from working on movie soundtracks, he has managed to gain a respect among the industry. Trevor Nelson has called him the new voice of black youth in the UK. He has just released a street/album mixtape called ‘Bashy.com’.
I spoke to him on the red carpet and asked him why he he decided to release half of ‘Bashy.com’ in retail stores and the other half on his blog, what we can expect from his upcoming album ‘Catch Me If You Can’ and why UK Hip Hop has seen a metroic rise in the last few years.
The Hip Hop Chronicle Interviews Tinchy Stryder
Tinchy is another artist making moves this year. His track and video ’Stryderman’ has been a huge success, earning him a UMA for Best Video.
I spoke to Tinchy about his new album, what it was like working with UK music veteran Craig David and what he learnt from Craig.
Keep your eye on Tinchy.
The Hip Hop Chronicle Interviews Skeelo
Skeelo is a funk-house artist. He is a charismatic person with lots of energy. I spoke to him about his new music. Skeelo had a message for Asian fans across the world as well as Hip Hop fans.
Having worked with the likes of Jin, Skeelo he has alot of music in the works.
The Hip Hop Chronicle Interviews Richard Blackwood
Richard Blackwood is a comic, television presenter, musician actor and radio personality.
He’s been on UK television sets and radio airwaves for a number of years. He had an extremely successful MTV show called ‘MTV Select’. He is now on Choice FM where he hosts his own show.
Richard has been in the business for 16 years. I spoke to him about how he stand-up comic career is going, what’s next for him and I asked him why UK artists are getting now getting their shine even though UK talent has always been there.
The Hip Hop Chronicle Interviews Sway
Sway has been one of the artists at the forefront of UK Hip Hop for a while. He recently signed to Akon’s Konvict Music Label and has recently released his second album ‘The Signature LP’. I remember Sway when he was releasing mixtapes before he got put on. He and his street team were definately putting the hours in. Year’s later, its fantastic to see Sway be in the company of artists like Akon, T-Pain and Kardinal Offishall.
I spoke to Sway about what fans can expect from his second album ‘The Signature LP’, how the conversation between him and Akon went down. He reveals to me that he is working on new music with Kardinal Offishall and T-Pain. He also gives his thoughts on UK artists breaking into the States and the rest of the world.

I also managed to catch up with Sway after he picked up ‘Best Hip Hop’.
