I’m back to follow up from Lyrical Tuesday’s. Today is Album Wednesday’s and the late great 2pac Shakur was a joint decision from the Boss and I to have featured kicking off the new segment.
Book 1 & 2 of this notorious album showed the world what real rap was when it came to the Hip Hop culture. The Death Row artist came saw and conquered in his short time with us and we also have to remember at that time the pioneers in that decade have also created the footprints that out modern artists follow today. And with a discography like 2Pac, how could you not understand the realness that we ourselves are living in at this very moment, if anything the intensity has been notched up a few bars.
Selling 556, 000 copies in the 1st week it became 5* platinum in the space of two months, taking it up to 9* platinum withing the following two years. “All Eyez On Me” conquered the Billboard charts making the no: 1 spot and received awards from the 1997 Soul Train R&B/Soul or Rap Album of the Year Award. With Method Man, Snoop and Outlaws as just a few features, I’m sure we all agree up to this day that this album is one of the greatest hip hop/rap albums of the 90’s.
So who remembers the singles that blazed this album into it’s today longevity? And personally a few of my favourites of the album that for me keeps his fire forever blazing.
California Love was the first to drop.
Followed up with the infamous 2 Of Americaz Most Wanted Ft Snoop Dogg
Then came along How Do You Want It with Jodeci brothers K-Ci and Jo Jo (Live Performance)
And who could forget I Ain’t Mad Atcha
Forever will you continue to be the God given gift that will stay in our hearts forever Mr TuPac Shakur Sir.
