White Stripes member Jack White has revealed that he has recorded a song with Jay-Z.
Speaking to GQ, White said,
“We did a song together a few weeks ago - it was incredible. I played him something that I’ve been kicking around for a while and he immediately came out with words for it. It’s unbelievable sounding.”
There’s been no word on whether the track will get an official release.
South London rapper Giggs has had his 10 date tour cancelled over police warnings over the security at each show.
Giggs planned to tour the UK with a set of dates to promote his upcoming single “Don’t Go There”, which features B.o.B. (its out now!)
The Metropolitan police confirmed they spoke to the promoters of the O2 Islington date and “advised that there were concerns about potential risk to the event, if it took place”.
A statement from the police went on to say, “We routinely exchange intelligence and information with other police forces but any police decision to advise a venue about a planned event would be taken at a local level.”
The cancellation comes after revelations that Trident had contacted XL Recordings (Giggs label) before he was signed to warn them.
On the cancellation of the concerts, the rapper said,
“I just want to thank the police for all this great promotion that they’re giving me, all these cancellations and that is just making me more powerful.”
Jay-Z will be coming back to these shores this summer for a 3 show tour.
The rapper will play Manchester’s MEN Arena on Monday 7th June and the LG Arena in Birmingham on Wednesday 9th June, topping it off with a headline performance at Wireless sponsored by Barclaycard in London’s Hyde Park on Sunday 4th July.
Hova is currently in London for the Brit Awards where he performing as well as being nominated for two awards.
So if you don’t have tickets to the Brits, you can see Jay again this summer.

Rolling Stones have more details on the Jay-Z & Bono track, which is produced on Swizz Beatz.
The track is called “Stranded” and will debut with a live performance on the Haiti telethon tomorrow.
Bono wrote the hook for “Stranded” — his new Haiti benefit single with Jay-Z and Rihanna, which is subtitled either “Haiti Mon Amour” or “Haiti Mi Amore” — while on the phone with producer Swizz Beatz. “The idea of the song is ‘We’re not gonna leave you stranded’ and that’s what the chorus is,” Swizz Beatz tells Rolling Stone. “So me and Bono started going back and forth with ideas, and he was like, ‘You know this word stranded keeps standing out to me’ and I asked him to sing it, and he put me on hold ’cause he’s recording the ideas on a Dictaphone — so he did it there and then on the phone.”
Swizz Beatz got the song started by sending simultaneous texts to Jay-Z and Bono — but when they both called, he accidentally hung up on Jay while trying to conference them. After three hours of phone tag, they all agreed to the project, which came together in geographically scattered sessions, with extra production work by the Edge. “I knew that Jay would be able to tell a story, and that Bono would be able to sing and bring it home. The last component that I added was Rihanna, and she’s kinda like the angel that’s on the track, softening it up and giving it that caring feeling, because this hook is so powerful.”
The song will debut with a live performance on Friday night’s multi-network telethon for Haiti, and will soon be released as a single on iTunes, according to Swizz Beatz.
Elton John has revealed that he has been helping Eminem to kick the rapper’s drug problem.
Speaking to the BBC, Elton John said,
“I’ve been helping Eminem over the last 18 months and he’s doing brilliantly”.
Slim Shady’s addiction to pills had been widely publicised.
In an interview with Vibe Magazine, Eminem recounted the time that he nearly overdosed.
Elton John who has faced a battle with drugs in his career told the BBC that he is willingly to help anyone.
“If people ask for help you tell them where to go but there’s no point advising people if they don’t want to do it.”
Eminem aka Slim Shady will hit these shores next summer after he agreed to tone down his homophobic lyrics.
It is believed that organisers of the Wireless Festival in London have persuaded Slim Shady to perform for the summer event, only if he doesnt perform any lyrics that would offend gay people.
The last time Eminem performed in the UK was at a secret show back in 2004 but his last tour was in 2001 where gay rights group OutRage! protested outside the shows.
This is a huge coup for the festival who have seen Jay-Z and Kanye West headline the event in the past two years. An inside for the Wireless said,
“This is a huge signing for Wireless and it will be the hottest ticket this summer. The organisers were afraid campaigners could potentially ruin the event. So there was a lot of to-ing and fro-ing and Eminem only agreed to sign up when assurances had been made that there would not be any protests. It was very touch-and-go but he has finally agreed to appear. Any kind of demonstration against him could have been disastrous. He will be bringing a huge entourage of security with him but there is still the risk that protesters may picket the hotel he stays in.”
But David Allison, an OutRage! spokesman is encouraging Eminem not to recite lyrics that he feels may cause offense.
“We have a condition that he does not use lyrics that encourage or incite hatred against gay people. He is free to express his views on gay people, as long as he stays off the violence and hatred. He has got plenty of other lyrics to choose from. In recent years he has become quite well-behaved”.

T.I. could be released from prison next month.
The rapper who is serving a 366-day sentence for possession of illegal firearms went to prison in back in May.
But it seems Tip could be transferred to a halfway house next month to see out his sentence.
Edmond Ross, spokesperson of the Bureau of Prisons said,
“If his full-term release date is in March, it’s not uncommon for an individual to be released to a halfway house to serve out the last portion of their federal sentence. There are a number of factors that need to be considered: if the person is not a danger to the community, the current offense, the individual’s prior criminal history, the availability of programs and space availability.”
It seems online retailer Amazon have mailed out 500 copies of an album that isnt scheduled to drop until next year.
Lil Wayne’s “Rebirth”, which is set to drop on Feb. 1st now appears to be in the hands of 500 Lil Wayne fans.
It was supposed to come out on December 21st until Birdman announced on twitter the album had been pushed back until February 2010.
Amazon however seems to have miss the tweet.
Tracks from the label have slowly been surfacing on the interwebs.
Recently “On Fire” and “Da Da Da” was leaked to a lukewarm response while Wayne’s latest collaboration with Eminem (”Drop The World”) seems to have the fans buzzing about the album.
There’s been no official comment for the Feburary release date but sources to Wayne’s label suggest more work on the album is being done.
