We are into the 2nd day of the new decade and already we have some artists acting irresponsible. One of those being Bow Wow.

The Cash Money artist was enjoying the New Year festivites like everyone else but according to HipHopDX, Bow Wow’s tweets then became more controversial.
“Face numb”, “im whippin the lambo. Tispy as f*ck. Just left @livmiami.”

He continued posting on the social networking site, hinting Chris Brown may have to drive.

“Im fucked up!!! Ohhhh damn. Y i drive the lambo. Chris (Brown) might have to drive after next spot.”
Since then, the tweets have been removed but yesterday the artist wrote,

Apologize for that tweet. it was stupid and immature. not a way i want to kick my #2010 year off. i got too much good stuff lined up. my bad

2009 has been a strange year. It may not have been the best year for Rap but there’s been fantastic moments for artist in the charts.

Jay-Z Closing Out The VMA’s With Alicia Keys.

This wasn’t just a big moment for Jay-Z and Alicia but also for Rap. Finally we get to close out a big show that is watched by Rock and Pop fans.

This was surely going to number one after this closed out the award show.

The moment was spoiled by Lil Mama who said she was so overwhelmed by the moment that she jumped on stage.

Nevertheless the song has also become an anthem (it reached number 2 in the UK charts, a month before release).

Chris Brown & Rihanna

Before the Grammy’s in February, news emerged that Chris Brown had beaten his then girlfriend Rihanna after a pre-Grammy party.

Since then they have both released albums and Chris Brown has accused the industry of blackballing him.

No idea what Kanye was thinking. His heart was in the right place but he chose the wrong time and place.

Joe Budden & The Rock The Bells Incident(s)

Joe Budden made some contraversial comments earlier this year. When Vibe released a list of their best rappers, they seemed to have put Joe Budden lower than he thought. One name he took exeception to Method Man being above him.

Now at this point, everyone thought this was over. But unfortunately it wasn’t.

One thing led to another and then at Rock The Bells L.A., Raekwon went to speak to Joe Budden but then one of Rae’s dudes hit Joe Budden in the eye.

This led to a load of tension at the Rock The Bells event but thankfully this situation is over.

Beanie Releases Diss Tracks Against Jay-Z

Beanie Sigel came out dissing Jay-Z and told Hip Hop that Jay stopped him from signing with G-Unit.

He then had an interview with Charlamagne where Beans talked about the fall of the Roc and why he is mad at Jay-Z.

Rick Ross vs. 50 Cent

At first this beef started out entertaining and competitive…

50 Cent then launched a online series called Pimpin Curly.

…but then it took a turn for the worse with indecent pictures of 50’s son appear on the net and then video appear of Khaled’s mother at work.

50 even took Rick Ross’ Baby Mother, Tia for a shopping spree and recorded the whole thing.

Jay-Z’s Death Of Auto-Tune.

Jay-Z had enough of auto-tune! Earlier in the year, he dropped a track entitled D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune).

One lyric (”get back to rapping, you T-Pain-ing too much”) forced Jay-Z to clarify he wasn’t just going at T-Pain but all the other rappers who were using it all the time.

At this year’s Hot 97 Summer Jam, Jay-Z made a surprise appearance but he wasn’t the only one (cue T-Pain’s enterance).

Raekwon dropping the best Hip Hop album of the year.

Drake releasing the best Mixtape of the year (”So Far Gone”). He even released it on iTunes and it sold over 70K in it’s first week!

Congrats to Drizzy who has now been nominated for a Grammy and he doesn’t have an album (he’ll probably win one too).

Jay-Z getting his first number one in the UK with “Run This Town” and US singles with “Empire State Of Mind” (11 straight number one albums too!)

In a recent interview with HipHopDX (good read), Memphis Bleek spoke on when he turned down a check to appear in an 10th anniversary Rocawear Advert.

He did it out of loyalty and love for a dude he’s been with since day one (respect to him for that). But the next day, Hov called him up and asked him why he didn’t take the money!

“Like, let me tell you something that just happened recently, right, you know they just did the tenth anniversary photo shoot for Rocawear?,” Bleek asked in an interview. “So they called me to come down there and do the picture or whatever. The Rocawear people tried to pay me, like they had a check for me at the photo shoot. And I’m like, ‘Nah, I can’t take that check.’ I think the check was like for between I think like $7,000 to $10,000. And I’m like, ‘I can’t take that check.’ And the dude he like, ‘Yo, why not?’ I’m like,’”Nah ’cause this my homie’s company. Why my man gotta pay me just to take some pictures? Like, this my n*gga! We from the [same] projects. You don’t have to pay me. [Doing] this is nothing.’

So then Jay called me the next day like, ‘Yo Bleek, why you ain’t take the money?’ I’m like, ‘Yo Hov, that’s like me stealing from you, just taking money from you, c’mon. What I did for you yesterday took 15 minutes out my day, you don’t have to pay me for that. I’ma get the money some other way.’ And that n*gga said to me, ‘Yo that’s why I love you, you one of the realest n*ggas ever, you would never meet nobody else in the world who would do that.’ And I sat back and thought about it, [and] he’s right. Who turning down money today? It’s just like, that’s my homie. That’s like if my brother, he like, yo I’m throwing a party, come to my party, and I gotta charge him for a walk-thru. Is you crazy?! C’mon. Karma is everything. You don’t have to pay me for no picture, I’m cool. And that’s just the loyalty I have to my team. And anybody that ever been close to me, you never gon’ meet nobody that tell you yo Bleek is foul, Bleek is this — I’m always for my team first.”

Kanye West visited The Los Angeles Mission this past Saturday to serve holiday lunch for homeless people.

The rapper along with girlfriend Amber Rose, volunteered in the kitchen and donned aprons to serve out hot meals to those in the shelter.

On volunteering, Kanye told The Boombox,

“It’s just important (to give back) when you’re very blessed. (It’s nice) to spread your blessings and take time out, especially during the holidays to appreciate people who never get that appreciation. It makes me feel really good to come out here and I just thank y’all for allowing us to be apart of this.”

The Nominations for the 52nd annual Grammy Awards took place last night. LL Cool J opened proceedings with a freestyle medley. Maxwell performed a tribute to Michael Jackson and the Black Eyed Peas rocked the stage. 

There is no Rap artists up for top gongs like “Song Of The Year”, “Album Of The Year” or “Record Of The Year”.

Respect and congratulaions to newcomers Kid Cudi and Drake who are both nominated.

Jay-Z recieves 5 nominations, Beyonce has 10 and Kanye has 6.

Jay-Z has been confirmed as one of the headline acts of the Isle Of Wight festival.

The “Run This Town” rapper will play the main stage next June.

Other artists confirmed for the three day event include Pink, Blondie, Ortibal and The Strokes.

John Giddings, the event’s promoter said,

“Ever since I heard the first Strokes album, I’ve wanted them for the Isle of Wight. Jay-Z and Pink are two of the best live acts I have ever seen and the Blondie hits speak for themselves. I can’t wait!”

The Isle Of Wight Festival takes place from June 11 to 14 2010 and tickets go on sale on December 4th.
