Beyonce’s latest movie ‘Obsessed’ has soared to the top of the U.S. box office chart with takings of £19.65 million in its opening weekend.
The film drama stars Beyonce and Idris Elba (American Gangster, The Wire) as a couple who is stalked by a crazed office worker who is played by Ali Larter (Heroes).
The film which Beyonce co-produced knocked Zac Efron’s comedy ‘17 Again’ off the top spot with Jamie Foxx’s new film ‘The Soloist’ taking third spot in the box office charts.
Variety are reporting that rapper T.I. has signed a three-picture deal with Screen Gems that will begin with crime drama “Bone Deep”, which also stars Matt Dillon and Idris Elba.
T.I. will be serving a year long sentence next year. The second Screen Gems film will be “Boulevard,” a drama in development in which T.I. will star; the third picture will be determined later.
RnB star and actress Beyonce Knowles will be an Executive Producer along with her father for an upcoming thriller entitled “Obsessed”.
Co-stars include Ali Larter (”Resident Evil” and “Heroes”) and Idris Elba (”The Wire” and “American Gangster”)
At the moment, Screen Gems, the company that will be shooting the movie are said to be ironing out scheduling details for both Beyonce and Larter.
Beyonce will be playing the knockout wife of Elba who plays an assest manager who has a thriving career until a temp worker (played by Larter) beings stalking him.
Beyonce was last seen on the screen in ‘Dreamgirls’ and is also producing and starrting as Etta James in ‘Cadillac Records’.
