I caught up with Statik Selektah in London yesterday. We spoke on his new album and how long the whole process takes to put together. I asked him about the “Thrill Is Gone” track with Styles P and Talib Kweli. Statik reveals that Kanye almost took the joint for the 808’s album.
I ask Statik about “All In A Day’s Work 2″. He tells me they have picked the beats and almost started to record it in Oslo a few days ago. But they want to put it out after Saigon sorts out his situation with Atlantic Records. Interestingly Statik says that Sai’s debut album should be released in “two or three months”. As of this moment Sai is still signed with Atlantic Records but he the paperwork for his freedom is nearly done.
Shouts to Statik Selektah, he’s a real good dude.

Statik Selektah Interview With The Hip Hop Chronicle UK
“After a short break, we’re back with the latest edition of Okayplayer TV. Who better to bring back OKPTV than one of our most favorite groups, Reflection Eternal. Live from the set of RE’s upcoming video, “In This World,” OKP chops it up with Kweli and Hi-Tek about The RE:Union, why they took so long to come out with a new album, gettin’ props from Jay-Z (and turning it into a hook), and more. Look for the video “In This World” to drop next week”

Mikey: In an effort to raise awareness for the fight against diabetes, Hip-Hop legends KRS-One, Dres (Black Sheep), Greg Nice, and few a more performed for a benefit concert last night at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn. Hosted by Michael Rappaport, Phife Dawg, and Okayplayer, the event had a line wrapped around the block all night long. But around midnight it was pretty clear who the folks came to see… minutes later Jay Electhanukkah crept out from the clusterf*ck going on backstage, that’s when I opted to climb back into the crowd for a better shot. It’s only just begun…
