Young Money artist Tyga has spoken on the support he has recieved from West Coast artists Snoop Dogg and Game.
The rapper, who is also from Los Angeles spoke to MTV about “Really Raw”, a track from his sophomore album that features Snoop and Game. It’s produced by Pharrell.
“Snoop came to the studio and heard it; he got on it. Then the next day, Snoop called Game and said, ‘I did a record for the little homie.’ Then Game came in and said, ‘I’m not just gonna let you have Snoop on it.’ It just became classic.”
The young rapper says that the co-sign shows his music is moving in the right direction.
“I never asked for that West Coast stamp. A lot of people don’t know I’m from the West Coast. My swag is different. Me being from Young Money, affiliated with them, some people think I’m from down South. It’s just good to show people and build outside of Young Money, build my brand outside of that. I think [Game and Snoop], they just respected it. I feel like too many people on the West Coast, they’re too needy. They feel they need Snoop or Game. I never did any tracks with any West Coast artists. Not because I didn’t want to, but because I didn’t feel like that’s what I had to do in order to get on. I just did music. That took me far enough to where Game and Snoop got on that record.”
